The Paragraph Settings dialog presents you with controls for setting the indentation, alignment, and spacing. If you would like to change setting for the whole document, see Page Layout.
To use the Paragraph Settings dialog:
| 1 | Click Format, Paragraph, Paragraph to access the Paragraph Settings dialog. |
| 2 | Click on the tabs marked Indentation, Alignment, and Spacing if you want to make changes to these settings. The preview panel at the bottom of the dialog will demonstrate the effects of the changes that you make as you go. You can make changes to more than one tab, and all changes will be implemented when you click OK. Click the links below for more detailed instructions (return to this page by clicking Back). |
| • | Indentation - block indent or first line/hanging indent |
| • | Alignment - left, center, right alignment and justification |
| • | Spacing - spacing between lines, extra space after paragraph |
| 3 | Use the Apply to drop down list to choose one of the options listed below. (This setting is not active if you are setting up or editing a cellular table or snaking columns.) |
| • | Insertion Point Forward - settings are applied from the place of cursor to the end of the document |
| • | Paragraph Forward - settings are applied from the current paragraph to the end of the document |
| • | Current Paragraph - settings are applied to the current paragraph only |
| • | Document Default - settings are made the default for the entire document |
| • | Selected Text - settings are applied to the currently block of text (This option is available only if a block of text was highlighted before you opened the Paragraph Settings dialog.) |
| 4 | Click OK to implement the changes you have made or Cancel to close the dialog without implementing changes. |
