Nota Bene provides controls that enable you to format your document according to a wide range of specifications. Document formatting is modified from the Page Layout dialog. Formatting for a paragraph or block of text can be modified from the Paragraph Settings dialog. See Paragraph Settings.
| 1 | To access the Page Layout dialog, click Format, Page Layout. |
| 2 | There are three tabs on the Page Layout dialog: Margins, Spacing and Paper. Click on each of the tabs and make the adjustments to the settings in each of these categories. Page borders are set up by clicking the Borders button on the Margins tab. Click below to find out how to adjust the listed parameters from within this dialog. |
| • | Margins left, right, bottom and top, orphans and widows, one-sided format |
| • | Borders border style, background shading, thickness and shading of lines |
| • | Spacing automatic or fixed, leading, spacing between paragraphs, auto-hyphenation, justification |
| • | Paper orientation, size and source |
| 3 | Click Apply to: field and choose one of the following options. |
| • | Insertion Point Forward: Changes to spacing are applied from the place of cursor to the end of the document. Changes to margins, borders and paper are applied to the page following the cursor and to subsequent pages. |
| • | Document Default: Changes are applied to the entire document |
| 4 | If you want to write the default settings into the document, click the Write Defaults button. See Write defaults for an explanation of this function. |
| 5 | Click OK to accept the changes you have made or Cancel to return to the settings previously in place. |
