Non-Breakable Blocks

 

You may want to identify a block of text that always stay together on one page. You can specify the beginning and end of the block, or you can specify the beginning of the block and the number of following lines to be kept together.  

 

To set the beginning and end of a non-breakable block:

 

1Move the cursor to the beginning of the block you want to identify as non-breakable.
2Click Insert, Breaks
3The Breaks dialog box will appear. Click on the Blocks tab.
4Click the Non-Breakable Blocks box and select the Start Non-Breakable Region radio button.
5Click OK
6Move the cursor to the first line after the non-breakable block (i.e., the first line that can break to the next page).
7Click Insert, Breaks
8The Breaks dialog box will appear. Click on the Blocks tab.
9Click the Non-Breakable Blocks box and select the Allow Text to Break From This Point radio button.
10Click OK

 

To set the beginning of the block and the number of following lines to be kept together.  

 

1Move the cursor to the beginning of the block you want to identify as non-breakable.
2Click Insert, Breaks
3The Breaks dialog box will appear. Click on the Blocks tab.
4Click the Non-Breakable Blocks box and select the Keep Together With Following Number of Lines radio button.                
5Use the slider control to specify the number of lines to include in the non-breakable block
6Click OK
