Editing an Academic Style

If you wish to make changes to the overall format of a single document that uses an Academic Style, you can do so as described below. A more powerful way of changing an academic style is to create a customized Style Manual and then switch to that style. A customized Style Manual can be used for any document that has been written using Nota Bene's Academic Style feature, and it can also be used for new documents. See Customizing an Academic Style.

Academic styles use a Framework to control the format of the headings and the body text. To make changes to the format of the headings (e.g., font, alignment, numbering etc.) or the body text (e.g. indentation, alignment, spacing, font), the underlying Framework must be edited.

1Click Format, Framework/Outline.
2The Current Document Framework dialog will appear. Click Edit.
3The Document Framework/Outline Structure dialog will appear.
4For detailed instructions on how to use the Document Framework/Outline Structure dialog to customize a framework, see Customized Frameworks.

Academic styles also make use of Headers and Footers and Footnotes. To edit these components of an Academic Style, move the cursor to the header, footer or footnote.  The shape of the cursor will change. Click on the header, footer or footnote to open a window at the bottom of your screen for editing. See Editing Headers and Footers or Editing Footnotes for more information.
