New in Version 13

Version 13 was released in August 2021  The following features are new in this version.

New Folder/File Structure: Previous versions of Nota Bene installed the program in an NBWIN folder on the C: drive rather than the more customary Program Files folder. Starting with NB 13, the installation folder/file structure has changed. There are now two distinct folder systems, the original Program folder, and a new Home folder. See Folder/File Structure and www.notabene.com/setup

Scroll Bar Buttons: New buttons have been added to the top and bottom of the scroll bars. Buttons at the top will increase or decrease the zoom by 10%. Buttons at the bottom will move the cursor up one page or down one page, or to the top or bottom of the file. See Scroll Bars.

Ibidem: Major improvements have been made to Ibidem. A new interface matches the Orbis interface. The main Ibidem screen includes a new Quick Search Bar and a new Quick Cite Bar. These bars provide an easy way to search and cite directly from the main Ibidem screen. A search pane and a cite pane can be opened for more complex searches and citations. Ibidem now provides new options for links that can be opened directly from your database record. In addition to note-taking file links, you can now have links to images, to web pages, and to files on your computer. See Links in Ibidem. An empty My Library database is provided so that new users can start adding records without having to create their own database.

Popup Ibidem: A new slimmed down, fast-action, small footprint version of Ibidem is now available. Popup Ibidem allows you to keep a single elegantly designed Ibidem dialog open and visible while you write. See Popup Ibidem

Archiva: Archiva and Ibidem are more tightly integrated. Many functions are easier and more intuitive and it is now easier to transfer retrieved records from Archiva to your personal Ibidem database.

Tables: Improvements have been made to tables. Research Results Tables have been added, and many new options are available. See Tables and Columns Overview.

Track Changes: Improvements to track changes include the following: insertions and deletions can be shown in color; deletions can be hidden (making it easier to read the edited text); track changes now works inside of footnotes/endnotes; a new dialog makes it easier to accept/reject changes. See Track Changes.

Enhanced Cloud Support: A new Home folder option allows you to install all of your Nota Bene data in the cloud, simply by selecting a sync folder, either during initial install, or thereafter from within NB using File, File Options, Set Home Folder. See Cloud Storage.

Mac: Many improvements have been made for Mac users. The program is compatible with Mac's Catalina and Big Sur operating system. Nota Bene uses the Finder dialog for managing files and takes advantage of Retina displays.
