Quick Cite Bar

The Quick Cite Bar is on the main Ibidem screen, above the Record Pane. It is also available on the Popup Ibidem dialog. This cite bar provides the easiest and quickest way to insert a simple citation in an open document and it should be used for most citations. The full Cite Pane gives more options.

To use the Quick Cite Bar to insert a citation, follow steps 1-4 in Inserting Citations to position the cursor in your document, open your Ibidem database, and find the work that you would like to cite.

With the record you want to cite selected, enter the page number(s) in the Page#/Locator box as follows:

For a single page number, enter just the number. Ibidem will add "p." if required by the style you select.
For a range of pages, separate the page numbers with a dash and no spaces.
Other locators can be entered as you would want them to appear in the citation. For example: Section 3

Click the Cite button to the right of the Page#/Locator box. If the style for your document has not already been selected, you will be prompted to accept the default style or to set a new style. See Set Reference Style.

The citation will be entered in your document and a bibliography will be generated (or updated) automatically.
