Creating a Footnote |
|
Nota Bene gives the user control over virtually every aspect of creating, editing and formatting footnotes and endnotes. To create a basic footnote, follow the instructions below. For a more detailed description of the controls that are available, see Footnote Window. If you are entering a citation with no additional text in footnote, you can enter it using Ibidem with no need to create the footnote. See Ibidem.
To create a footnote (or an endnote):
Once the footnote has been created, it will appear in Page Layout View at the bottom of the page and a footnote marker (usually a superscripted reference number) will appear in the text at the insertion point. Click on the footnote to edit it.
The footnote will appear in Show Codes View as an FN command at the point of insertion. You can also create a footnote by using the FN command on the action line. See Creating a Footnote: FN command.
To insert a second footnote repeat the above directions. Nota Bene will automatically number the footnotes and adjust the numbering if new footnotes are inserted or if text which includes a superscripted reference is moved or deleted.
To insert an entirely new series of footnotes, follow the above instructions using Note (Series II) or Note (Series III) instead of Note (Series I).
Click on either the footnote separator or the wrap separator to edit them in place.
