Footnote Separator

The footnote separator is the line that separates the footnotes from the body text. Usually a footnote separator is a row of hyphens, underlines, or asterisks preceded and/or followed by one or more blank lines. By default, the footnote separator is a dashed line, flush left followed by two carriage returns or blank lines.

Nota Bene gives you control over the appearance of the footnote separator. You can change the note separator by clicking on it and editing it in place. The changes that you make will apply to all of the separators for the series. You can also edit the footnote separator from the Note Format dialog as follows:

1Click Format, Notes and then select the series to be formatted (usually Series I).
2The Note Format dialog will appear on your screen. Check the Set Format box, click the Footnote radio button and then click the Separator button.
3The footnote separator window will appear at the bottom of your screen. Type the text for the footnote separator, including carriage returns (Enter) for blank lines. Then press F3 (or click elsewhere in the document to move away from the separator window) to complete the creation of the footnote separator.

Footnote separators can also be created using the action line. See Note Separator: FS command.

The Wrap Separator is the separator that is used for footnotes that are long enough to wrap to the bottom of the next page. It can be edited in much the same way as the Footnote Separator. See Footnote Wrap Separator and Wrap Separator: FW command.
