Page Numbering |
|
Nota Bene can automatically number pages, keeping track of the numbers when text is added, moved or deleted. Page numbers are normally inserted as part of a header (at the top of the page) or a footer (at the bottom of the page).
To insert a simple footer with a page number (starting with 1) at the bottom of every page:
In most cases, a document will use headers and footers that contain text or other data in addition to page numbering. For more information about headers and footers, see Headers and Footers.
Nota Bene gives you a variety of options for formatting your page numbers. Page numbers in the header or footer can include the total number pages in the file, and/or the chapter number, and they can include whatever text or punctuation you want (examples: "page 3 of 112" or "Chapter 2: page 3"). You can use decimal numbers, upper case Roman numerals, lower case Roman numerals, upper case letters, or lower case letters. You can also set or reset the starting number (or letter). For more information, see Page Numbers Dialog and Set Page Numbers.
A page number does not have to be part of a header or footer. To insert a page number on the current page only:
If you find that page numbering in your document is not correct, it it likely that an SP command has been inadvertently inserted. The solution is to switch to Show Codes View, and find and delete the SP command. See Editing in Show Codes View and SP and PN commands.
