Headers and Footers

A header (or running header) is text that is repeated at the top of each page. A footer (or running footer) is text that is repeated at the bottom of each page. The headers and footers will normally include text that is entered by the user and page numbers. They may also include data that is generated by the program such as author's name, date/time, file name or folder/file name.

Whenever you create a header, a footer is also created (and vice versa). It will be blank if you did not specify any content. Any header or footer (blank or otherwise) can be clicked on at any time for easy editing. By default, headers and footers will appear on all pages. You can however, choose to have different headers/footers for even and odd pages and/or a different header/footer on the initial page. You can also add new headers/footers in the midst of your document, and you can suppress headers and footers on a specified page.

Nota Bene provides flexibility in selecting the style and format of page numbering. Pages can be numbered using decimal numbers, upper or lower case Roman numerals or upper or lower case letters. Chapter or final page numbers can be included (e.g., "page III-23" or "page 4 of 58").

When a header or footer is present in the document, RH (running header) and/or RF (running footer) commands will be visible in codes view.
