More than one work can be referenced in a single citation. This is done by inserting a citation with one work referenced and then expanding the citation to include more than one work.
| 2 | Position the cursor in your document on the citation that you would like to expand. |
| • | If you are using Footnotes or Endnotes, the cursor should be placed just before the footnote marker (the superscripted number in the text of the document). If the cursor is in the correct position, the status line will contain a message starting with the word "Footnote." |
| • | If you are using Short Form Citations, the cursor can be place anywhere on the blue short form reference. |
| • | If you are using Reference Numbers, the cursor can be placed anywhere on the blue reference numbers. |
| 3 | Press F7 or press Alt+Tab to move to Ibidem. |
| 4 | Locate the record for the second work to be included in the same citation. Click on the record in the Database Pane and it will be displayed in the Record Pane. |
| 5 | Click Cite, Insert Citation (or press Ctrl+Ins). The Insert/Edit Citation dialog will display. |
| 6 | The previous work(s) cited in the same citation marker will be listed as well as the new one. Enter the pages in the new work to be cited and review the other options on the dialog. |
| • | Enter the page and select any other options for the new work that is being added in the top half of the dialog. |
| • | Changes can be made to the work previously cited by clicking on that word in the Works Cited in Current Citation Marker section of this dialog. Selections pertaining to that work will then be displayed in the top half of the dialog and can be edited. |
| • | You can delete a previously cited work or change the order of the works included in the citation. Click on the work to be adjusted and use one of the three buttons on the right side of the Works Cited in Current Citation Marker section to delete the work or move it up or down in the list. |
| 7 | When you are satisfied with the selections in the Insert/Edit Citation dialog, click Cite. |
Ibidem will use the separator that you select in the In-Text Citation tab of the Citation Style of Current Document Dialog. This selection will override the publishing style selected, so it is important to assure that your selection accords with the publishing style you select.
