New Textbase: Files in Document Folders

The easiest way to create an Orbis textbase is to select the Files in Document Folders option in the Create New Textbase dialog. When this option is selected, all of the other options in the dialog are selected automatically. The textbase you create will be called "Nota Bene files" and it will include all of the .NB files in your Windows (or Mac) Documents folder (and subfolders) your Nota Bene Document folder (and subfolders). Your Nota Bene Documents Folder is in your Home Folder. The entry type will be paragraphs. Any documents that you subsequently save in your Documents folders will be automatically added to your textbase. Even if you have purchased the additional Orbis+ formats, the Files in Documents Folders Textbase will index only .NB files.

To create this textbase:

1From the Orbis Gateway, click Create New, or from an open Orbis textbase, click File, New Textbase. The Create New Textbase dialog will open.
2Click Files in Document Folders. "Nota Bene Files" will be automatically entered as the name of this textbase. The location of the management files will be as shown. There is normally no need to change the location of the management files, but you can do so if you want to save the management files in a different location.
3Click GO to create the "Nota Bene Files" textbase. The Orbis Indexer will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
4When the indexing process is complete, click Finish.

When the indexing process is complete, you will be asked if you want to open the textbase. You can now use the new textbase and to search and retrieve text. See Search an Orbis Textbase.

If you would like to have more control over some of the options available in creating a textbase, see New Textbase: Files/Folders Selected by User or New Textbase: Predefined Orbis Formats or New Textbase: Custom Format.
