Information for International Users |

Nota Bene is produced in the United States, but it is used in many countries throughout the world, by people who write in many different languages. The Nota Bene Workstation provides support for Western European languages. The Lingua module adds support for Hebrew, Greek, Arabic and Cyrillic. This version of Nota Bene is not compatible with Chinese, Japanese and Korean, but we hope to offer support for these languages in the near future.
The dialogs and documentation are in English, and cannot be changed, but all of the following can be changed to suit your needs.
Keyboards: If you are using a keyboard other than the standard US English keyboard, you should select a different keyboard in Nota Bene as well as in Windows. See Alternate Keyboards.
Languages and Dictionaries: Nota Bene provides spell checking, hyphenation, and thesauri in many languages. The default language is US English. If you type primarily in a language other than US English, you should select that language and/or dictionary as the default. See Changing the Default Language. If you use more than one language in your writing, see Multilingual Spell Check.
Units of Measurement: By default, Nota Bene uses inches for horizontal measurement and lines for vertical measurement. This can be changed through the Tools, Preferences menu. See Units of Measurement.
Quotation Marks: Various quotation marks that are used in different countries can be entered in a variety of different ways, and the smart quotes that are entered when you use the " key on the standard American keyboard can be customized. See the Quote Key Type dialog on the Tools, Preferences menu or see Quotation Marks.
Other Alphabets: If you write in a language that uses a non-Roman alphabet, the Lingua module provides support for Hebrew, Greek, Arabic and Cyrillic. See Lingua Overview, and see Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew or Arabic.
