Textbase Control Center (Nexus) |

The Textbase Control Center or Nexus is a screen that allows you to view information about your open textbase and to make changes. To access this screen from the main Orbis Screen, click the traffic light icon, or press Ctrl+X or click File, Control Nexus. To return to the main Orbis screen, press Esc or click the Return to Active Textbase button at the bottom of the screen.
The following options are available:
Textbase The name of the textbase is displayed. If you would like to change the name, type in a new name and click the Rename button.
Create Management Files In The location of the textbase files is displayed
Created/Last Updated/Last Accessed Information about when the textbase was created, most recently updated, and most recently accessed is displayed. These dates are informational and cannot be manually edited.
Synonym File The name of the synonym file (if any) associated with the textbase is displayed. To manage the synonym file, click the Manage button. For more information about synonyms, see Synonyms.
Add/Remove Files (Alt+A) This will open the Add/Remove Files dialog. This is the same dialog that was used in creating the textbase and it can be used to add or remove files or folders at any time.
Textbase Statistics Statistics for the open textbase are shown to the right of the Add/Remove Files button. For details about this statistical information, see Textbase Statistics.
View/Set Properties Orbis creates new textbases with default properties for omit lists, entries, keywords, and characters separating words. The entry format and keyword format are displayed. Click the View/Set Properties button to open the Properties dialog with three tabs that can be used to modify the entry type, the keyword type or the character type.
Check Update Status (Alt+C) Choose this item to see if your textbase needs to be updated.
Update Textbase (Alt+U) Updating incorporates new files and changes to existing files in the textbase index and assures the accuracy of your searches.
Rebuild Textbase Rebuilding creates a new textbase index from scratch. If you experience any problems with your Orbis textbase, it is likely that rebuilding the index will resolve the problem.
View Log File The processing of files by the indexer can be shown after indexing is complete by clicking Files, Nexus Options, View Log File. During indexing, the files that are being indexed can be displayed as they are being indexed by clicking the plus sign in a green circle to show and the minus sign to hide.
Many of these options are also available on the Orbis File menu. With a textbase open in Orbis, click File, Nexus Options to display a menu that includes most of the above options. In addition, the File, Nexus Options menu has an option to produce a list of all of the words used in the textbase and the number of times they are used. For more information, see Output Vocabulary.
