Shortcuts for Efficient Typing

Nota Bene provides multiple ways to simplify typing. Click on the links below for detailed information.

Keyboard Shortcuts: In addition to shortcuts that are used by most Windows applications (e.g. Ctrl+B for bold and Ctrl+S for save), Nota Bene provides many more keyboard shortcuts that are designed to help you control your writing from the keyboard.

Expand/Convert/Shorthand (under Edit): Certain key combinations will automatically change to something else. For example, if you type (c), you will get © or if you type two dashes, you will get an em dash. This feature can be turned off or customized.

Phrase Libraries (under Edit): Assign a phrase or a block of text to each of 35 different keys. The phrase or block of text can then be inserted by pressing Shift+Alt+the letter or number that has been assigned to the phrase.

Auto Replace (under Proof): Misspelled words can be automatically corrected.

F5 Key (under Insert): The F5 key is used to insert symbols and certain special characters.

F6 Key (under Insert): The F6 key (the "compose key") is used to enter accents or other diacritical marks and a wide variety of specialized characters.
