Ibidem Panes |
|
Normally the database pane on the left, the record pane on the right, and the preview pane under the record pane. If you are working in slide-out mode, you can display additional panes by clicking on the tabs to the left or right. In slide-out mode, you can also arrange your screen to display panes in any way you like. Click the pushpin icon at the top right of a pane to dock a pane. This will fix it in place so that it is not floating on top of other panes. If you are working in popup mode, additional panes can be selected from the view menu or by using keyboard shortcuts.
The panes are as follows. Panes can be displayed or hidden by using the view menu (click View and then click the pane that you wish to display or hide) or by using the keyboard shortcuts that are shown below (and also shown on the view menu).
Database Pane (Alt+D) This pane shows a list of all of the records in the database, or all of the records in a selected subset, or all of the records found in a search. Click on one of the records, and the details will be shown in record pane and in preview pane.
Record Pane (Alt+R) shows the data for the record that is selected in database pane. The fields in record pane are used to enter and edit data. Any data entered or changes made will be saved automatically when you switch to a different record, a different database or when you close Ibidem. See Data Entry Overview.
Preview Pane (Alt+P) shows how the selected work will appear in your citations and bibliography in the publishing style that is selected. To see which style is selected, move your cursor over the preview icon in the top left of the preview pane. To change the style, click View, Preview Options. See Preview Options.
Search/Query Pane (Alt+Q) is used to search the database or a subset of the database. For simple searches, you can use the Quick Search Bar.
Subset Pane (Alt+U) is used to create and manage subsets. See Subsets.
Cite Pane (Alt+O) provides advanced options for inserting citations in your open document. See Cite Pane. In most cases, you can use the Quick Cite Bar to insert citations.
Links Pane (Alt+K) is used to add a dynamic link to an Ibidem record. See Links.
Most of these panes are also available in Popup Ibidem. See Popup Ibidem.
