The FM (Footnote Format) command is used to set the format for all of the footnotes in a given series of footnotes. To set the format of the footnotes in your document:
| 1 | Move the cursor to the top of your document (it must be before the first footnote). |
| 2 | Press F9 to access the action line. |
| 3 | Type fm (or fm1) followed by a space and then any formatting command. For example, the following command would indent the first line and subsequent lines 0.2 inch (assuming that inches is your default unit of measurement): |
| 4 | Press F10 to insert the formating command in the document. |
NB:
| • | The formatting command will be visible in Show Codes View. In Page Layout View, any footnotes that have been inserted in the document should be formatted in accord with the formatting command. |
| • | If you are formatting footnotes in series 2 or 3, substitute fm2 or fm3 for fm |
| • | If you want formatting to apply to only one footnote, or a portion of a footnote, then the formatting commands should be inserted directly in the open footnote window when the footnote is created. |
