Endnotes: NF and DF commands

Endnotes are footnotes that are placed at the end of a chapter or document rather than at the bottom of each page. To create endnotes, you first create footnotes. To convert footnotes to endnotes, use the NF (No Footnotes) command to suppress the display/printing of footnotes at the bottom of each page and the DF (Dump Footnotes) to indicate where the notes should be placed (e.g., at the end of the chapter or at the end of the file).

To suppress the display and/or printing of footnotes at the bottom of each page:

1Move the cursor to the top of your document (it must be before the first footnote).
2Press F9 to access the action line.
3Type NF (or NF1).
4Press F10 to insert the No Footnote command in the document.

To place the endnotes:

1Move the cursor to the place where the endnotes are to be displayed.
2Press F9 to access the action line.
3Type DF (or DF1)
4Press F10 to insert the Dump Footnote command in the document.

To issue the above commands with respect to footnotes in series 2 or 3, substitute NF2 or NF3 for NF and substitute DF2 or DF3 for DF
