The F3 key is used to open notes, annotations or other for editing and to save changes that have been made.
To use the F3 key to open an element for editing, place the cursor on the element (or to the right of it) and press F3.
| • | If the cursor is on a note call number, the footnote window opens for editing with the cursor placed inside the footnote window. |
| • | If the cursor is in a footnote window, the window will be closed, saving text that has been edited. Use Ctrl+F3 to abandon any changes and close the footnote window. |
| • | If the cursor is on an annotation, the annotations dialog opens. |
| • | If the cursor is on an index marker (IM), a summary of the marker is displayed. |
| • | If the cursor is on a table of contents marker (MT), a summary of the marker is displayed. |
| • | If the cursor is on a hyperlink, the Hyperlink editing dialog is opened. |
| • | If the cursor is on a text style set by an academic style manual, the Style Manual dialog is opened. |
| • | If the cursor is on a cross-referencing command, a label, or a counter with a label, the Cross-Reference dialog is opened. |
| • | If the cursor is not on a element, it opens the one immediately to its left. |
