Database & Options Tab

To set the reference style for your open document, each of the first three tabs of the Reference Style for Current Document dialog should be reviewed and the default settings accepted or changes made if desired.Review each tab before clicking OK. The Reference Style for Current Document dialog can be opened from the main Nota Bene screen by clicking Format, References, Set Reference Style, or from the Ibidem screen by clicking Cite, Set Reference Style.

The first tab is used to specify the database that is to be used for the open document. The following options are available on this tab:

Databases

The Database & Options Tab lists Ibidem databases you have created. Check to make sure that the database that you plan to use for this document is selected. If not, click the database containing the records that  you wish to cite in this document.

Suppress Capitalization of All Titles

Capitalization of titles is normally controlled by Ibidem so that titles are capitalized in accord with the publishing style selected. Check this option if you want to override Ibidem's control of capitalization and have the titles printed as they are in the database. You can use the Insert/Edit Citation dialog to suppress capitalization for an individual citation.

Substitute Underlining for Italics

The default setting in Ibidem for the print attribute used to set a title apart from the rest of a bibliographic citation is italics. Check this option to use underlining rather than italics to distinguish titles.

Convert Straight Quotes to Smart Quotes

Select this option if you want smart quotes (curved quotes) instead of straight quotes.

Use En Dashes in Page and year Ranges (Instead of Hyphen)

Select this option if you want to use en dashes (an en dash is longer than a hyphen)

Save as Default

Check this option to save the current settings as the default settings future documents.
