Auto Spell Check |
|
Auto Spell Mode shows spelling errors visually, anywhere in the file in real-time, without needing to invoke any specific Spell option. Errors are shown in both body text and in footnotes. Errors are marked with a red squiggle under the word. If a word is repeated, the duplicate word is marked with a green squiggle. Auto Spell Mode can be turned off by clicking Proof, Configure Spell, or it can be turned on/off by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Y. You can also choose to show misspellings on a yellow background instead of a red squiggle. See Configure: Options tab.
When Auto Spell Mode is on, a right-click menu can be used to open the Spell Popup dialog. Right-click on a word that has been flagged as misspelled opens and then select (left-click) Correct Word. The Spell Popup dialog can be used to add a word to your user dictionary so that it will not be flagged in the future, or to set up a replacement pair so that an incorrectly spelled word will be replaced by the correctly spelled word. See Spell Popup Dialog.
If you see a whole block of text marked with the red underline squiggle, this is most likely caused by an LA (language) command in the file. LA commands are used to indicate a change in language. For a description of how LA commands are used in multi-lingual spell checking, see Multilingual Spell Check.
