Nota Bene Version 8.0 Help
in PDF Format

Nota Bene Help is designed to help you learn to use Nota Bene, both by providing conceptual overviews and by providing step-by-step instructions for using the different features of the program. Scholar’s Workstation and Lingua Workstation include both on-screen versions of Help, and a printable version in Nota Bene format.

The downloadable files on this page are PDF versions of the printable Nota Bene help files that come with the program. To display them, you will need to have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader installed.

Since the Nota Bene files total over 500 pages, these PDF versions are produced with 2 pages on each sheet, so that they can be printed on fewer sheets of paper. The PDF versions have been created from the Nota Bene files using FinePrint (a program that allows you to print 2, 4 or 8 pages on each sheet of paper) and pdfFactory (a program that creates PDF files from Nota Bene files or from any Windows program). Both FinePrint and pdfFactory can be purchased from Nota Bene. For more information, see pdfFactory/FinePrint.

There are three Nota Bene Help files: Nota Bene Help, Ibidem Help and Orbis Help.

  • The main help file, Nota Bene Help, is available in two different versions, one for Scholar’s Workstation and one for Lingua Workstation.

  • The PDF versions of all of these files are available for printing on American 8.5 x 11 paper or on European A4 paper.

Click the links below to open and/or download one version of each of the three help files.

  • If you have Adobe Acrobat already installed, and files of type PDF are linked to Acrobat:
-- To open the file in Acrobat immediately, without exiting your browser, click on the link (you can subsequently save the file to your system from within Acrobat by clicking on the File Save icon on the Acrobat toolbar displayed in the browser [note that you cannot use the Browser’s File, Save option--this will be grayed out])
-- To save the file directly to your own computer, right click on the link, and then select the Save Target As... option

  • If Acrobat is installed, but it is not linked to files of type PDF, clicking the link will download the file directly to your computer. Remember the folder you designate for the files to be saved in, and then use Windows Explorer or My Computer to find the file and double-click to open it.
