NOTA BENE on MAC
Nota Bene runs on Macs with Intel and M1, M2, and M3 chips, running the latest Mac OS, Sequoia, as well as any version starting with High Sierra (10.13), including Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, and Sonoma. (M1 chipes require Big Sur or later.) It does so by incorpating a version of Wine called Crossover that lets programs originally designed for Windows run on Macs as though they were designed for Macs.
While NB users have been running NB on the Mac for over a decade (ever since Apple Macs started using Intel chips, rather than the older Power PC chip from Motorola, in January of 2006), versions after NB 13, including the current NB 14, have included significant enhancements:
- NB also now works on computers using the new Apple silicon (M#) chips
- NB now uses the standard Finder dialog for all file-management (open, save as, etc.) operations inside Nota Bene, making everything so much easier, more intuitive, and more elegant
- NB now supports Retina displays, making for crisp on-screen fonts like you are used to in other Mac programs
- Saving text in the cloud (using iCloud, or some other program) is now much easier (and fully supported)
- A more robust 64-bit version of Wine is included, as part of our collaboration with Codeweavers, the creators of Crossover 21

There is a $20 surcharge for the Mac version of Nota Bene 14. This partially covers the Crossover license and the huge amount of programming that went into the Mac improvements in this version.
