Customize Sort Rules |
|
Sort rules are used to determine how a bibliography or other report will be sorted. Ibidem's standard styles provide you with predefined sets of sort rules that are consistent with the instructions to authors for that style. However, you can customize the sort rules, and use the customized rules with any publishing style.
A customized sort rule definition can be created by clicking the Sort Rules button on the Generate Bibliography dialog (or the Generate Report dialog). This will allow you to have your bibliography or report sorted by different fields (e.g., title instead of author) and to select options for the way authors, titles, and/or years are sorted. See Define Sort Rules.
The sort order for an individual field in an individual record can be changed by choosing Set Field Sort Order on the Edit menu or on the right-click menu. This would be used if, for example, you had an author "van Antwerpen, Julia" but wanted the author's name sorted under A instead of V. See Set Field Sort Order.
