Math Overview |
|
Nota Bene provides several ways of adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing. You can even add a column of numbers that are set up as part of a tabular table. The following methods can be used for basic mathematical functions.
Action Line: The action line provides a quick and easy way to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Just enter an equation with no spaces and an equal sign at the end. For more detailed information, see Action Line Math. .
Keyboard shortcuts: The Alt key combined with mathematical function keys (+, -, *, /) can be used to add, subtract, multiply or divide numbers that have been typed in your document. The results will be shown on the status line and can be inserted into your document. Keyboard shortcuts can also be used to add a column of numbers. For instructions, see Keyboard Math.
Menus: You can add, subtract, multiply and divide by using the Math Operations on the Tools menu. However, this is not the most efficient method. For instructions, see the above-mentioned page on Keyboard Math.
Calculator: You can access your computer's calculator from within Nota Bene by clicking Tools, Calculate. See Windows Calculator.
Spreadsheet: If you would like to include a spreadsheet or a chart in a Nota Bene file, you can use your spreadsheet program to create a file, and then import material created in another program into a Nota Bene file. You can maintain the link to the other file (in which case changes made in the original file will be reflected in the Nota Bene file) or sever it so that the data created in the program is fully embedded in the Nota Bene file. For more information, see Object Linking and Embedding (OLE).
