Generate Datafile Format

An Ibidem datafile is a Nota Bene file that contains the data that is in an Ibidem database in a format that can be used by Ibidem. A datafile can contain information about all of the records in a database, or information about any defined subset. For information about using a datafile to copy records from one database to another, see Append/Import Records or Import Records From Ibidem Database.

To generate a datafile:

1Click Generate, Datafile Format. The Datafile Format dialog will display.
2The name of the database should be showing in the box at the top of the dialog. If not, use the drop down list to select the correct database.
3The large window in the dialog shows the database and all of the subsets that have been defined. Click to select the subset for which you want to create a datafile.
4Click OK and then View Results.

If the bibliography includes hyperlinks, including links to Note-Taking files, after the bibliography or report is generated, you will be given the option of replacing the name of the link (i.e., the Description) with the text of that link. Note that for note-taking files, only the actual notes (not the formatted reference, keyword area, or annotation) will be included. Click Yes to include the text of the link.
