Extended Alphabets

Additional alphabets are available at additional cost. Currently, Akkadian, Syriac, Coptic and Ugaritic are available. The process of using the extended alphabets is summarized as follows:

Purchase and install: To use these alphabets, you must have Nota Bene and the Lingua module and you much purchase the additional alphabets that you wish to use. Information on availability and price can be obtained from the Nota Bene web site. To place an order for one or more of these alphabets, go to the on-line order form (www.notabene.com, then click the Cart button). If you already have Nota Bene, click the LOGIN button to log in and purchase add-ons for use with your current copy of Nota Bene. You will receive a product key that gives you access to all of the modules that you have purchased. To activate additional modules that you have purchased, click Help, Activate Add-On Modules and enter your product key.

Selecting an alphabet: Once installed, the extended alphabets will appear on the drop down list at the top left corner of the main Nota Bene screen. You can switch alphabets by using the following keyboard shortcuts:

Press Ctrl+Shift+L to open the Language Dialog Bar enabling you to select from the Extended Alphabets that you have purchased and installed.
Press Ctrl+Shift+P to select the alphabet that was most recently selected. This shortcut is designed to provide an easy way for you to select your "Primary" or "Previous" alphabet.
Press Ctrl+Shift+R to return to the Roman alphabet.

These keyboard shortcuts work like the other alphabet-switching keys (Ctrl+Shift+H for Hebrew or Ctrl+Shift+G for Greek or Ctrl+Shift+C for Cyrillic). They select the keyboard and they set up the active LA (language) command. They work in Ibidem and Orbis.as well as in Nota Bene. For general information on Lingua keyboards and LA (language) codes, see Alphabets and Keyboards.

Working with an extended alphabet: The Extended Alphabets work like Hebrew, Greek and Cyrillic, except as noted below.
