Copying or Moving a File: COPY command |

If you are copying a file for use on a different computer, and if that file includes citations that have been generated by Ibidem, then you will have to make sure that the Ibidem database that was used to generate the citations is accessible to the new computer. See Sharing a file.
To copy a file to a new drive and/or directory:
Nota Bene will create an identical file with a new file name. If you specify a new drive and directory, but leave out the new file name Nota Bene will copy the file under the original name. If a target file name already exists Nota Bene will display the message "File exists, Overwrite it?" Press Yes to accept or No to choose a new file name. To overwrite an existing file without an error message, substitute the copy/nv for copy in step 2.
If you are copying an open file, it must be saved or stored before it can be copied.
To copy a file from a directory:

Nota Bene will copy the file to the new location and delete the original file.
This version of Nota Bene supports long file names through the menus, but the action line is limited to filenames of 8 letters plus a 3 letter extension.
