Borders for Frames

Borders around frames are established automatically when you create a frame by either inserting a frame or by inserting an image or object. See Inserting a Frame or Inserting an Image/Object. When first inserted, the border will be a black line that is 1 pt in thickness. There will be white space between the image and the border (the gutters) and white space outside of the borders that defines the space between the frame and any text that wraps around the frame.

There are numerous options for editing the borders. Use the second tab of the Edit Frame/Graphic dialog to edit the borders. You will be able to do any of the following:

Change the thickness of the border.
Remove the borders so that the edges of the frame are not visible.
Make changes to the borders on all 4 sides, or different changes can be made to top, bottom, right and left.

Use the third tab of the Edit Frame/Graphic dialog to edit the inset (the white area surrounding the frame/borders) or the gutters (the white area inside of the frame/borders). If you set the gutters to zero, the edges of the frame and thus the borders will be touching the edges of the image with no white space.
