Inserting an Academic Style

If you would like to insert an academic style into an existing document, see Adding an Academic Style to an Existing Document.

There are two ways to insert an academic style into a new blank document.

Method One

1With a blank document open, click Format, Style Manual. The Academic Style Manuals dialog will open.
2Select the style manual you wish to use.
3Click on the tabs on the right (or left) side of the dialog and fill in the information as directed. Some of the information may not be used in the style you are using. For example, a running header title is used in the APA manual, but not in MLA, Chicago or Turabian. Information not used in the style you are using can be omitted, but if you enter all information, Nota Bene will be able to convert your document to another style without requiring you to enter missing information. Information used in the active style is marked with an arrow in a box.
4After entering information on all tabs, click OK.

Method Two

1Click File, New. The New Standard Document dialog will open.
2Click on the icon for the style you want to select. A description will appear in the box on the right side of the dialog.
3Click OK, or double-click on the icon. The Academic Style Manuals dialog will open.
4 Click on the tabs on the right (or left) side of the dialog and fill in the information as directed.
5After entering information on all tabs, click OK.

If you would like to use a custom academic style manual that has been developed for your University or Seminary, you must first install the custom style manual. See Custom Style Manual.
