Working Within an Academic Style

When you insert an Academic Style in a document, all of the Framework controls are activated. To effectively work within an Academic Style, you must be familiar with the Framework controls. These controls are described in Working within a Framework.

In addition to the above mentioned Framework controls, the following controls are active in Academic Styles:

Enter/Alternate Enter: When you press Enter in a body text region, a carriage return is inserted and the cursor is indented to start the next paragraph. If do not want to indent, press Alt+Enter. Pressing Enter while in a heading region will move the cursor to the beginning of the body text for you to begin typing there. To include a new line in the heading, press Alt+Enter for a new line with no indentation or Shift+Alt+Enter for a new line with standard paragraph indentation.

Block quotation: Press Shift+Enter to begin or end a block quotation as follows:

To begin a block quotation, press Shift+Enter.

To end a block quotation and continue with the same paragraph, press Shift+Enter.

To end a block quotation and start a new paragraph, press Shift+Enter twice.

Editing: The blue text elements (title, author name, affiliation, etc.) inserted by the style manual can be edited by placing the cursor on the element to be edited and pressing F3. This returns you to the correct tab on the Style Manual dialog, where this information was originally set.
