Nota Bene is compatible with all of the 32-bit of versions of Vista. (64-bit Vista and XP are available but not widely used. Nota Bene is not currently compatible with 64-bit operating systems.) To run Nota Bene on Vista, you need to run as an adminstrator. To do so, right click on the Nota Bene desktop icon, and click the Run as Administrator option. Thereafter, you should be able to start Nota Bene as an adminstrator without reselecting this option. For the moment there is only one known issue, and that relates to using on-screen Help. Specifically, Microsoft Vista is no longer supporting the kind of files that we use to produce on-screen Help (32-bit HLP files). To use on-screen Help, you will need to download WinHlp32.exe from Microsoft. Go to the Microsoft downloads page and search for WinHlp32.exe. After your version of Windows is validated, you will be given a choice of downloading either: Be sure to download the x86 one (Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu), which is for 32-bit Windows. We are working on our Help files so that this extra step will not be necessary in the future. Our printable Help which contains the same information as on-screen Help is available without the additional download from Microsoft.
