ARCHIVA
So dramatic. So different.

You hardly know what to call it. . .
Web Researcher? Clipboard Watcher?
Citation Capturer? Library Searcher?
So indispensible.

“I can't live without Archiva!!!!

Archiva opens the door to a dramatic new world of web research. Archiva is always watching for bibliographic data: Whenever you go to a research site—either through Archiva, or through your browser—and then copy something from one of those sites, Archiva automatically checks to see if it includes bibliographic material. If it does, it automatically converts it to Ibidem format and places it in a “Captured Records” database. A little Archiva icon at the bottom of your screen flashes whenever it notices you copying bibliographic data. At any time you can click on the icon to see what you've captured, then edit it and/or import records to your Ibidem database.

Archiva works the same wonders that it does with journals on books: You can search over 500 university and research libraries—including collections (such as COPAC, which incorporates merged online catalogues of over 50 major university and national libraries in the UK and Ireland, including the British Library) that give single-search access to multiple libraries—right from within Nota Bene. A single magic keystroke in Ibidem (Ctrl+L) opens up this world of on-libraries to your research, letting you retrieve records already in Ibidem format from the millions upon millions of titles available on line.

Archiva not only watches, it also goes looking for you: You can initiate searches of hundreds of on-line scholarly databases, and literally tens of thousands of journals, from within Nota Bene (if you have subscriptions to them), or perform direct searches of hundreds and hundreds of university and research libraries (with millions of book holdings).

Archiva also offers a host of other conveniences, including improved hyperlinks to external data, new options to manage duplicate records, and the ability to launch any kind of web search directly from within Nota Bene and Ibidem.

    EVERY DAY YOU USE ARCHIVA
If you regularly search journal articles on the web, why not give yourself a break, and let Archiva help you retrieve the citation data (including, in many cases, “stable” or “persistent” URL’s), and turn them into full Ibidem records? Your citations will be more accurate, you’ll be sure that you are properly attributing other work when you should be—and you’ll have much more time for the more interesting, truly creative, part of your scholarly work.

And if you’re not doing web searches already, Archiva is just the tool you’ve been waiting for to help open up a whole new world of possibilities.

Any way you look at it, Archiva is an unbelievable bargain. 20 cents a day* can save you untold hours of agony—imagine the creative pursuits you could engage in instead of typing in even a couple of hundred (never mind thousands) of journal citations, when Archiva can retrieve dozens in seconds!

    * Rate calculated assuming Archiva use for just one year—although you’ll certainly end up using it for years to come
