|
Characters used in transliteration are entered using the F6 key. Type any letter and press F6 to see the diacritics that can be added to the letter. Hold the Shift button down to see diacritics that can be added below the letter. Hold the Alt button down to see alternate forms of the letter. Hold down Ctrl or Ctrl+Shift or Ctrl+Alt to see even more options. To add a diacritic, type the letter shown in the small yellow square in the square that contains the character you want to enter or double-click the square that contains the character you want to enter. To add a second diacritic, press F6 again. Accents can be stacked/combined in any order. For more information, see Compose Key (F6).
Certain commonly used accented characters can be entered by pressing Ctrl+Alt and then a letter on the keyboard or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Alt and then a letter on the keyboard. For a diagram showing the letters assigned to the Ctrl+Alt/Ctrl+Shift+Alt keyboard, press Insert, Latin Vowels & Others. For more information, see Accented Letters (Ctrl+Alt).
If there are composed characters (character plus diacritics) that you use frequently, you can assign them to one of the keys on your keyboard. The character can then be inserted by pressing Alt+F5 and then the assigned key. For more information, see User-Assigned Characters.
