Tabula will create a concordance from any of your Nota Bene Biblical Texts. It can do every word in the text, words beginning with a certain character or combination of characters, or words over a certain alphabetical range. For an overview of concordances, see Tabula Overview.
To create a new concordance:
| 1 | Click Tools, Tabula. The Concordance Files dialog will appear on your screen. |
| 2 | Click New. The Concordance New dialog will appear on your screen. |
| 3 | In the Description field, enter a short description to identify the concordance in the Description field. After the concordance is created, this description will be displayed in the Concordance Files dialog for use in opening the concordance. |
| 4 | A path will be shown in the location field and it is recommended that you accept this default. This will save the concordance management files in the Tabula subfolder of your main Nota Bene folder (usually Nbwin\Tabula). If you would prefer to save the concordance management files in a different folder, you can type it in or click the button to the right of the location field to browse. |
| 5 | Enter a Short File Name of not more than 8 letters with no extension. The extension of .c01 will be added (for large concordances, additional files may be created with extensions of .c02, .c03, etc.) and the file will be saved in the folder specified in step 4. |
| 6 | In the Range/Scope section, use the drop down list to select Textbase Short Name. This is the NB Biblical Text that Orbis will search to create the concordance. |
| 7 | Now select the Scope of your concordance. You can choose one of the following: |
| • | All Words in Vocabulary. This option should be selected only under unusual circumstances. It will build a complete concordance for every word in the text. This will take a long time to complete and will produce files that total many thousands of pages. |
| • | All Words that Begin With. This option is recommended. If you type in the word that you are looking up, other words that begin with the same letters will also be generated. For example, "prophet" will generate a concordance for "prophetess" and "prophets" as well as "prophet." |
| • | Designated range: Use this option to generate a concordance for an alphabetical range. You can enter words or letters of the alphabet, and Tabula will generate a concordance of every word that is alphabetically after the text that you type in the From box and before the text that you type in the Up to (Including) box. Note that if you type a single letter in the Up to (Including) box, the concordance will include words that would appear in a dictionary before that letter, but not words that begin with that letter. |
| 8 | In the Configuration/Format box, highlight the format that you want to use, or click New to customize the format. |
| 9 | When you have made all of the above selections, click OK. |
