Nota Bene Biblical Texts Overview

Nota Bene previously sold biblical texts that can be searched by Orbis. Search results can be imported into an open Nota Bene document. Available texts include the Hebrew Bible (BHS), the Greek New Testament, the Septuagint (Rahlfs), the Vulgate and the King James Version. The Lingua module is required to use the Hebrew and Greek texts. English and Latin texts can be used with without the Lingua module.

We are no longer selling the NB Biblical Texts. Other bible software can be used to search the biblical texts and text can be copied/pasted from those programs into Nota Bene.

For those who previously purchased the NB Biblical Texts, the process of using the biblical texts is summarized as follows:

Download and install: The texts were sold separately and are not part of the Nota Bene Workstation. If you previously purchased one or more Nota Bene Biblical Texts, you will have the option to download them from your private download page. To go to your private download  page, to to www.notabene.com and log in. Your product key is used as the serial number for installing the texts

Index each text as a new Orbis textbase:  Each text must be indexed before you can use it. The process is easier and more straight forward than creating a standard textbase of your personal files since most of the selections are predefined. For instructions, see New Textbase: Biblical Texts.

Search the textbase:  Once indexed, you can search for any word or use Boolean operators (and, or, xor, not) for more complex searches. Unlike other Orbis textbases, you can search the whole textbase (the whole Bible) or limit your search to a book or a portion of a book (you specify the beginning and ending verse). You can also retrieve a verse, chapter or series of verses. For more information, see Searching Biblical Texts.

Results:  Viewing and working with search results is the same for biblical texts as for any textbase. Like any textbase, search results can be expanded to see the context (verses before and/or after the verse that has been found). Search results can be viewed for reference and/or imported into an open Nota Bene document.
