Sort Records |
|
On the Ibidem screen, the database pane provides you with a list of all of the records in the database. Summary information is provided in table format. Any of the columns in the table can be sorted provided that the column is identified as a Key Field.
After sorting, you can move through the list of records by typing the first letter of the record you are looking for. If you have sorted by author, then the letter you type will take you to the first record with an author's name beginning with that letter. If you have sorted by title, then the letter you type will take you to the first title beginning with that letter.
For example, if you are looking for a work by B.F. Skinner, you could sort your database by authors by clicking the Author Column Label. With your cursor anywhere in the Database Pane, type an s to bring you to the first record with an author whose name begins with an "S." Then scroll down to Skinner.
For a large database, searching rather than sorting is usually the best way of finding a record. See Select Records.
