With Nota Bene, you can sort paragraphs or lines alphabetically or numerically in ascending or descending order. You can sort a whole file or a selected block. The data to be sorted must consist of two or more records. Records are typically paragraphs or lines separated by a paragraph break (i.e., a hard return, inserted by pressing the Enter key). You must specify the criteria for sorting. The Sort Options dialog, accessed by clicking Tools, Sort, is used for sorting.
To sort lines (or paragraphs) alphabetically or numerically according to the first characters in the line (or paragraph), see Sorting: lines/paragraphs.
If you have used the tab key to create a simple table, you can also sort lines by the text or number in any column. See Sorting: tab columns.
You can use the Sort Options dialog box to guide you through the process of choosing custom sorting rules. See Sorting: custom sort.
You can also sort by using the Sort command on the action line. See Sorting: sort command.
It is recommended that you save your document before sorting (click File, Save or press Ctrl+S).
