Framework/Outline Options Dialog Bar (Alt+O) |
|
The Options Dialog Bar gives access to framework controls used when working with a framework, outline or academic style. Once a framework, outline or academic style has been inserted in a document, Nota Bene's framework controls are active. The Framework/Outline Options Bar should be open on the left side of your screen. If it is not open, Press Alt+O to open it. Pressing Alt+O repeatedly will cycle between opening the Options Bar, the narrower Options tool bar, and both closed. The Options Bar provides an easy way of working with a framework or outline structure. If you find that you do not have enough room on your screen to keep this dialog bar open, you can select the narrower toolbar that has the same controls in a narrower format.
Auto Enter: When Automatic Enter is on, pressing Enter will add a new framework element. When Automatic Enter is off, Ctrl+Alt+Enter will add a new framework element. Click to check or uncheck the Auto Enter box at the top of the Options Dialog Bar. For more information, see Working Within a Framework.
Insert a new framework element: A framework/outline element is made up of a heading and body text (or a single heading, depending on the type of framework you are using). A new framework element is inserted by clicking one of the four buttons in the Insert Element After Current section. The new element can be inserted at the same level as the previous element, or at a higher or lower level. Click on numbers 1 through 7 next to the fourth button to insert a new element at level 1 through 7.
Insert heading at cursor: Use the two buttons in this section to divide an existing framework element into two elements. Place your cursor in the body text at the point at which you wish to add a new heading, and click one of the two buttons to add a new heading at the same level or at one level lower.
Edit/Adjust Current: Place your cursor on the element that you wish to edit or change. The Remove Heading button is used to combine two elements into one. The text that was under the heading that is deleted is combined with the text in the previous element. Headings or body text that is hidden is not deleted and it can be displayed again by unchecking the box. The Promote and Demote buttons and the Move Up and Move Down buttons apply to the full framework element, and they provide an easy way to move the framework element.
Options: Use the Show [Heading] [Body] box to display or hide the yellow and green framework brackets. See Framework Markers. An Element (heading and body text) or an entire branch (heading and body text and any sub-headings with associated body text) can be selected. Once selected, you can move use the controls in the Edit/Adjust Current section to move an entire branch. Or you can delete or copy the selected material, knowing that you are including the entire element or branch.
