If you have purchased and installed the NB Biblical Texts, Biblical Texts will be one of the Textbase Types available to you in the Create New Textbase dialog. Before you can search a biblical text, you will need to index the text, thus creating a new Orbis textbase. If you have purchased more than one biblical text, each version must be indexed, one at a time. Creating a Biblical Text textbase is easy, because once you choose the Textbase Type (Biblical Texts) and the version that you wish to use, the other fields in the Textbase Creation dialog are completed for you automatically.
Open Orbis (click Tools, Orbis).
Click Create New or click File, New Textbase. The Create New Textbase dialog will open.
On the left side of the dialog, click Biblical Texts as the type of textbase to be created. This will change the dialog so that the selections for biblical texts are shown. If Biblical Texts is not one of the options shown, then you must download and install the Biblical Texts.
In the middle of the dialog, click on the down arrow to reveal all of the biblical texts that have been installed. Select the biblical text that you want to index.
Review the other settings in the middle of the dialog. Indicate whether you want to create an index with or without accents. If you select With Accents, you must type the accents in when you search. The biblical books will be listed with a check mark next to each one. If you wish to omit any book(s) from the textbase, click to clear the book. For example, if you want your textbase of the King James Version to exclude the Apocrypha, you can clear each of the books of the Apocrypha.
Click GO and the indexing process will begin. The Orbis Indexer status dialog will display the progress of the indexing process.
When the indexing process is complete, click Finish.
Repeat steps 2 - 7 for each of the biblical texts.
Once the biblical text has been indexed, it will appear in the Open Textbase dialog and in the drop down list at the top left of the Orbis screen and can be opened immediately and/or in subsequent sessions. You do not need to reindex before each use. See Open Textbase.
