Transfer to New Computer |
|
If you are setting up a new computer, you will want to transfer all your Nota Bene files, databases and settings to the new computer. First check to see which installation is active on your current computer. Click File, File Options, Set Home folder, and make a note of the Home folder.
•If it is C:\users\yourusername\Nota Bene then you are using the new Home Folder installation. •If it is C:\nbwin\users\default then you are using the traditional (legacy) installation. •A shared folder in a sync folder in the cloud
If you are using the Home Folder installation on your current computer, that is the default installation and it is the one you will want to use on your new computer. Before installing, copy the NOTA BENE folder from C:\users\yourusername\ on the original computer into c:\users\yourusername\ on the new computer. It does not matter if yourusername is different on this new machine, but be sure to copy the folder, not just its contents. Then install, using the default Home Folder installation.
If your home folder is a shared folder in a sync folder in the cloud, there is no need to copy the folder. Just install on your new computer, using the default Home Folder installation.
If you are using the traditional (legacy) installation on your old computer, you may prefer to use the same familiar installation on your new computer. To do so, copy the entire NBWIN folder from the root of the C: drive on the original computer to that same location on the new one. Then install Nota Bene, selecting the traditional (legacy) installation. This installation is not an option on the Mac.
If you are using the traditional (legacy) installation on your old computer and plan to make use of the cloud, we recommend that you transition to the new Home Folder installation. For a full explanation, including instructions for transitioning to the new Nota Bene Home Folder System, see the following page:
This should be all that you need to do, unless your files or databases or customized settings are not under the home folder on the original machine.
