Hyperlinks |
|
Nota Bene provides a system of automated links that can be used in many ways.
Hyperlinks can be inserted in Nota Bene files or in Ibidem fields. Once inserted, they will appear as green underlined text. Double-click on the green underlined text to activate the hyperlink. You can add a hyperlink to a URL and when you double-click on the hyperlink, your web browser will open and will be taken to the specified web page. Similarly you can add a hyperlink to an e-mail address. When you double-click on the green hyperlink, your e-mail program will open and a blank e-mail message will be opened with the recipient's e-mail address in the "To" field. You can also add a hyperlink to a different Nota Bene document, to a Paint document (usually for a bitmap or .bmp file), to a spreadsheet or to any other document in any program (provided that the extension is linked to a program on your computer--for example files with the extension .xls are linked to Microsoft Excel). Double-click on the hyperlink to open the Nota Bene file, bitmap, spreadsheet or other file.
In addition, a specialized "Record Link" can be added to each record in an Ibidem bibliographic database. The Record Link is designed to be used to automatically create and/or open a note-taking file in Nota Bene. This type of file begins with bibliographic data taken from the Ibidem record and it is used to take notes on the book, article or other work in the linked Ibidem record. All of the note-taking files thus created can then be indexed as an Orbis textbase, and a special type of Orbis textbase is provided for this purpose. Orbis is used to search through the notes that have been taken and make most effective use of them.
