A keyword is a searchable word that appears in one or more of the files that are included in an Orbis textbase. By default, Orbis treats all words as keywords, except for words on a user-modifiable omit list. A list of all of the keywords in the active textbase can be seen on the Search panel. To view the Search panel, move your cursor to the Search tab on the left edge of the Orbis screen. The Search panel can be docked, or fixed in place, by clicking the push pin icon at the top right corner of the panel.
There are four tools that can be displayed on the Search pane of Full Orbis: Expanded Search Box, Search Operators, Vocabulary List and Search Stack. Click the dropdown arrow at the top of the panel to view a menu where each of these tools can be checked (displayed) or unchecked (hidden). To view the keyword list, make sure that Vocabulary List is checked.
When the Vocabulary List is active (displayed), you will see four buttons at the top of the Vocabulary List. Click to display one of the following:
•Keywords to display a list of all keywords •Synonyms to display the synonyms that have been defined for the active textbase •# Keywords to display special keywords that begin with # •@ Keywords to display special keywords that begin with @
For more information about the last three options, see Synonyms and Special Keywords.
When Keywords are displayed in the Search pane, you will be able to begin typing a word in the Find box and you will see the word in the Keyword list. The number to the right of the keyword is the number of paragraphs (or other defined entries) in which the keyword appears. You can double-click on the keyword to enter it in the Find box. Searches in Orbis are not case-sensitive, so it does not matter whether the terms are entered in lower case or upper case.
To generate a printable sorted list of keywords, see Vocabulary List.
