Generate Subject Bibliography

 

The Generate Subject Bibliography dialog can be opened from the main Ibidem screen (with a bibliographic database open) by clicking Generate, Subject Bibliography.

 

The following options and settings are available on the Generate Subject Bibliography dialog:

 

Subject Field

The subject field contains the terms to be alphabetized in the authority list. You can use any field in the database as the Subject Field for your authority list.

 

Order

Defines the order in which to sort the authority list. You can sort the terms in the authority list in descending (z-a) or ascending order (a-z).

 

Type

Defines the field as contain alphabetic or numeric characters.

 

Characters

This option lets you limit the number of characters to use in sorting the list.

 

Database and Subset

Use the drop list to choose the database containing the records you want to include in your bibliography. Ibidem displays all subsets you have saved for that database in the Subset window. If you wish to generate a bibliography for a particular subset in the database, click on the subset name.

 

Style

All available standard styles are alphabetized in the Style list box. Highlight the style you would like to use for your bibliography.

 

Order

The Order definition box lets you define the order in which citations are listed in your bibliography.

 

Alphabetical as Defined by Selected Style
Ibidem's standard publishing styles include definitions for sorting a bibliography by Author-Date-Title, or Author-Title. Check this option to use the predefined sort order settings for your bibliography.
 
Alphabetical Using Custom Rules
Check this option to override the predefined sort order definition with custom sort rules. When this option is selected, the Sort Rules button is active. Press the Sort Rules button to customize the sort order for your bibliography with the Sort Rules dialog
 
By Record Number
Check this option to sort the citations in your bibliography by the Ibidem record numbers.

 

Options

 

Standard Format
Check this option to use one of the standard predefined formats for bibliographic citations.
Number Citations: Check this option to number the citations in your bibliography. When this option is checked, you can press the Numbers button to display the Number Format dialog. The Number Format dialog lets you customize the font, style and tab settings for the numbers.
Include Additional Fields: Check this option to include additional fields (such as annotations, keywords, ISBN numbers, etc.), in the citations in your bibliography. When this option is checked, you can press the Fields button to display the Additional Fields dialog.

 

Customized Forms
Check this option to use a customized form for formatting the information in your records. When this option is checked, you can press the Forms button to display the Custom Form dialog. The Custom Form dialog lets you define a format for formatting output from your database.

 

NB:  If you are using IbidPlus to work with a non-bibliographic database, this dialog will appear as a Generate Report Dialog, and options related specifically to bibliographic databases (such as styles) will be inactive.
