Generate Bibliography |
|
A bibliography containing the works cited in a document is generated automatically in any document that contains dynamic citations. You can generate a bibliography or a reading list of all of the records in your bibliography or any subset of records. If you intend to include some, but not all, of the records in a database, you must first define and save a subset of the records to be included. You could, for example, enter the keyword 18C in the keyword field for all works related to the 18th century, and then generate a subset of all records with this keyword. You would then be able to generate a reading list from that subset. For instructions on creating a subset, see Subsets.
To generate a bibliography directly from your database:
Ibidem will write a bibliography in the style you have selected to a new Nota Bene file. You can name and save the file, or you can copy the bibliography that you have generated to any other file (e.g., to the end of the document that you are working on). To copy the bibliography, press Ctrl+A to select the whole bibliography, press Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard. Then place your cursor at the point in your document where you want the bibliography to appear and press Ctrl+V to paste the text from the clipboard to your document.
For more detailed instructions, see Generate Regular Bibliography dialog.
If the bibliography includes hyperlinks, including links to Note-Taking files, after the bibliography or report is generated, you will be given the option of replacing the name of the link (i.e., the Description) with the text of that link. Note that for note-taking files, only the actual notes (not the formatted reference, keyword area, or annotation) will be included. Click Yes to include the text of the link. See Bibliographies with Hyperlinks.
To generate and/or update this dynamic bibliography, click Cite, Update Dynamic on the Ibidem screen (or press Alt+F7 or click the Update Dynamic Citations button on the main Nota Bene screen). For more information and detailed instructions, Updating Citations.
