Defining a Column

Columns can be created using tabular tables (i.e, using the tab key). The F2 key can be used to define a tabular column or free-form block. This may be useful if you want to add a column of numbers and then insert the total.

To define a column (or any free-form block of space), use the F2 key as follows:

1Place your cursor at the beginning of the column or block you want to define.
2Press F2 twice.
3Hold down the Shift button while you press the right arrow key and then the down arrow key to move to the end of the block. The column or free-form block will be highlighted on screen.

When you define a column of numbers, make sure that all of the digits are highlighted. For example, if you want to add a column of numbers that includes the number 1,000 and the final 0 is not included in the highlighted block, then Nota Bene will treat the number as 100 rather than 1000.
