Extended Clipboard (Alt+Ins)

In virtually any Windows program, text can be defined and cut (Edit, Cut or Ctrl+X) or copied (Edit, Copy or Ctrl+C) to the Windows clipboard. It can then be pasted (Edit, Paste or Ctrl+V) into the active document.

In addition to this basic Windows functionality, Nota Bene provides you with a clipboard that automatically records the most recent items that have been cut or copied to the clipboard or deleted. Any item saved on this clipboard can be inserted in your open Nota Bene file. You can customize the way your clipboard works by choosing how many items are saved (up to 255), the minimum size for an item to be saved (1 to 255 characters) and whether or not items are saved between Nota Bene sessions.

To insert an item from the clipboard:

1Place your cursor where you want the item to be inserted.
2Click Edit, Extended Clipboard or press Alt+Ins.
3Find the item in the list of saved items. Click on the item to highlight it, or use the arrow keys to scroll through the saved items. The selected item will display in the dialog bar in both regular view and codes view. This display is not editable.
4 Click Insert or press Enter to insert the selected item in the open document.

To adjust the settings in the clipboard to suit your preferences:

1Click Edit, Extended Clipboard or press Alt+Ins.
2Make the following selections at the bottom of the dialog bar:
Type in the number of items to be saved. The default setting is 50, but you can choose to save up to 255 items.
Type in the minimum number of characters. The default setting is 5, meaning that items that have less than 5 characters will not be saved. The number of characters includes spaces and commands (as shown in Codes View). In addition each Hebrew, Greek or Cyrillic letter is counted as 3 characters, or more if there are diacritics.
Choose whether you want to save items only for the current session (this is the default setting) or save for future sessions. If you save items for future sessions, they will be available immediately and also after you close and restart Nota Bene.
