The RG (registration) command is used to set the case so that all text after the command will appear in all uppercase letters, all lowercase letters, all small caps or uppercase and small caps. With any of the first three of these settings in place, the usual distinction between typing a lowercase letter and an uppercase letter is ignored. This change affects only the appearance of the text. If you switch to Show Codes View, you will see that the capitalization as originally typed is still in place. This command could be used, for example, to print a document in all caps while retaining the ability to easily change back the the original combination of uppercase and lowercase letters. This is an and can be seen and edited in Show Codes View. Nota Bene also provides commands and convenient keyboard shortcuts that can be used to permanently change the case of letters that have been typed. To change the character case of a selected text:
| 1 | There are two options for selecting the text to have its character case changed: |
| • | To change the style of a selected text only, define the text by highlighting it. |
| • | To change the style from the insertion point forward, move the cursor to the point at which you want the new style to begin. |
| 2 | Press F9 to access the action line. |
| 3 | Type one of the following commands to specify the capitalization style to be used: |
| • | RG 1 Everything uppercase |
| • | RG 2 Everything lowercase |
| • | RG 3 Everything small caps |
| • | RG 4 Uppercase and small caps |
| 4 | Press F10 to implement the command. |
Alternatively, the following keyboard shortcuts can be used to issue the RG commands:
| • | Ctrl+1 to insert RG 1 (Everything uppercase) |
| • | Ctrl+2 to insert RG 2 (Everything lowercase) |
| • | Ctrl+3 to insert RG 3 (Everything small caps) |
| • | Ctrl+4 to insert RG 4 (Uppercase and small caps) |
| • | Ctrl+5 to insert RG 0 (Normal--as typed) |
