Using a Style: US command

The US (Use Style) command is used to insert a style that has been defined using the SS (Set Style) command. Styles are ended by inserting a new command that overrides the commands in the style. This may be done by inserting a new style or by inserting one or more formatting commands.

The US command can be inserted from the action line (see numbered instructions below) or by selecting the named style from the style drop down list at the top of the screen. You can also assign a shortcut key to a style and then apply the style by pressing Shift+Ins + the letter or number that has been assigned to the Style. See Assigning shortcut keys.

To use the action line to apply a style that has been set:

1Move the cursor to the point in the document where you want the style to begin.
2Press F9 to access the action line.
3Type US followed by a space, then the name of the style. For example, the command US courier would insert or begin a style named "courier."
4Press F10 to execute the command.
