Time: NOW, TM and SEC commands

 

The time inserted in an open document can be automatically updating or static. The now and the sec commands are immediate commands that enters the current time as text that will not be updated. The sec command includes seconds, while the now command includes only hours and minutes. The tm command enters a command in the file that is automatically updated whenever the file is opened, edited or printed. The time will be in the default format (12 hour or 24 hour). To insert the current time as text that will not be updated:

 

1Place the cursor at the point where you want to insert the time.
2Press F9 to access the action line
3Type now (for a time that shows hours and minutes) or sec (for a time that shows hours, minutes and seconds).
4Press F10 to insert the time.

 

To insert a command in the file that will display the time, and automatically update to the then-current time whenever the file is opened, edited or printed:

 

1Place the cursor at the point where you want to insert the time.
2Press F9 to access the action line
3Type tm
4Press F10 to insert the time.
